Zero Gravity Marketing has risen above the competition to become a top digital marketing firm in Connecticut, and we credit it to our unique, diverse team. We appreciate every player, and we know that without him or her, we wouldn’t be the successful marketing firm we are today.
With this in mind, we have launched an Employee Spotlight initiative. Our hope is that, as you learn more about each of the talented individuals at our marketing firm, you will gain further insight into why we are so great together.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce Tracy Standish, Director of Content Marketing. We have asked her a few questions to provide an insider’s look as to what makes Tracy tick. Enjoy!
Tracy Standish, Director of Content Marketing
Where are you from?
How did you choose this career path?
I made a list of characteristics I wanted my career to have, from being ‘related to computers and internet’ to ‘working on creative projects.’ Digital marketing fit the bill perfectly, and with my passion for language and a BA in English, directing content unveiled itself as my ideal career choice, so I started hunting for the right firm.
What do you like most about your job?
Editing. Also learning though the copy I help develop, and the talented freelance writers I work with, especially Rachel, one of our writers – she never misses a deadline, is always grammatically correct, flexible and professional, and is far smarter than me.
What is your favorite part of being a member of the ZGM team?
It feels like a family, my comrades, and we’re all in it together for the success of the agency.
What is the strangest job you’ve ever had?
Working at a video rental store in St. John, UVSI, that was clearly bypassing all copyright infringement laws.
What is your favorite quote?
Oh jeez. What context? Here’s a couple off the top of my head:
“A ship in the harbor is safe, but that it not what ships are built for.” — John A. Shedd
“Everything ends, so love it while it lasts.” — Me (it’s about appreciating what you have)
“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” — Vivian Greene
“Nothing [screws] you better than time.” — Sir Davos, Game of Thrones. HBO.
Do you have any pets?
Oh yes my big luv muffin, Hodor, Irish Wolfhound Mix and cat, Nala. Still mourning the loss of Buttons, also called ButtButt or Da Bow Bow, exotic shorthair cat. She had her own instagram page.
Name one thing on your bucket list.
Visiting Bora Bora.
What would you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
Securing my position at ZGM, and keeping up with content requests on the daily.
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
Painting (shameless self-promotion, check out: tracystandish.com), journaling, flying stunt kites, hiking, running, streaming TV series.
What’s your favorite food? Least favorite food?
Favorite: Chicken & organics. I prefer not to eat pork, flour, onion, garlic, butter, red pepper, artificial sweetener/flavor, most sea creatures, or fried foods, but occasionally do.
Pick three words to describe yourself.
Goal-oriented, honest, unique.
Radiohead. Otherwise it changes frequently.
If you were a Crayola crayon, what color would you be?
I am so glad you asked. I googled the Crayola color names and have been waiting for someone to ask me this question, and I was starting to think it was never going to happen. ‘Pacific Blue’ on weekdays, ‘Turquoise Blue’ on weekends. NEVER PEACH.
You’re about to perform in a karaoke bar. What song do you pick?
Elements or Crystalize by Lindsey Stirling because there are no lyrics. I am a terrible singer.
If you could live in a TV show, book, or movie, which one would you pick?
Definitely not Game of Thrones! That place is cut-throat. I would likely die in the first 4 minutes. Whitewalkers? No way.
If you could hang out with anyone for a day, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Elon Musk. I would ask him to make a Tesangler. It’s a Tesla that looks like a Jeep Wrangler. Obama. I don’t want to hang out wth dead people, note the Whitewalker response above.
