Notice to Our Customers – Google Algorithm Change

To Our Clients:

Search results are about to change in a big way. Google’s mobile algorithm change is less than three weeks away, and if you don’t act accordingly, your position on the search engine results page may drop significantly. Just in case you missed our first blog post about the change, here’s the Cliff’s Notes version:

  • On April 21, 2015, Google will be giving a lot more clout to the mobile friendliness of a site. The rollout will take up to a week to be completed.
  • If your site does not work well on mobile devices, you will see a massive drop on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). Though we cannot say for sure, they may even be removed from searches done on mobile devices.
  • The rollout is worldwide, though it will not affect Google News, for now.
  • It’s a huge update. We are anticipating it to be even bigger than the latest Panda and Penguin updates, which is a colossal deal.
  • There is no middle ground: Your site is either mobile-friendly or it is not.
  • You can perform a Mobile Friendly Test to make sure your website is viewed correctly by Google.
  • Since there are so many non-mobile sites out there, there is a huge potential for a boost in the rankings if you are compliant—less competition!

That about covers it. Responsive website design is the best route to take since your site will automatically adjust to the screen it is being viewed on. You might want to give us a call to make sure your website is mobile-friendly, before Google sends you to the corner with a dunce cap on. The clock is ticking.
