Content Marketing

Top Content Marketing Certifications

You know content is important when it comes to online marketing. But do you really know how much goes into making written text turn into organic traffic?

As it turns out, it takes more than just adding a few new blog posts to your website. Content marketing requires a little bit of skill and a whole lot of luck, which you can easily learn by taking a digital course.

Our team has put together a list of three useful content marketing certifications to help give you the knowledge you need.

HubSpot Content Marketing Certification Course

The first content certification we recommend is the HubSpot Content Marketing Certification Course. This program features twelve lessons with over fifty-two videos and eleven quizzes. Topics covered include the power of storytelling, building a content creation framework, generating content ideas, and guest blogging. There are also sections on how to promote your content and the basics of measuring your results.

It is a fairly short course and only takes around six hours to complete—a great choice if you’re trying to bring your team up to speed on the basics of content marketing and you don’t want to hurt productivity by spending weeks on training. It’s also free, which is a bonus if you have budget concerns or numerous people you want to complete it.

Content Marketing Institute University

If you’re looking for something much more in-depth, this program from the Content Marketing Institute University is an excellent option. There are dozens of modules to complete and over fifty different extracurricular paths you can take to really get a comprehensive education on content marketing. Topics covered here include written content, video, personas, channel mapping, and much more.

One major difference with this course is the cost. It is $995 per attendee, but the organization does offer group discounts for teams and businesses. You will receive access to the course for twelve months, allowing you to take as many core or advanced modules as you wish during that timeframe.

Digital Marketer Certified Content Marketing Specialist

Finally, if you care about utilizing content to improve website traffic, the Certified Content Marketing Specialist program from Digital Marketer is a good choice. This course is a little more basic than the CMI University one, but it gives a good idea on how content can fuel search engine optimization and organic ranking.

It costs $495 per person and takes approximately eight hours to complete. They do list the training as advanced or intermediate, making it a good option after you’ve already finished the abovementioned HubSpot program. It also includes modules on podcasting, which is unique compared to some of the other courses.

Why Take a Content Marketing Course?

There are numerous reasons why you might consider taking a content marketing course or have a member of your team complete one. The biggest and most important is simply knowledge. If you’re posting to your blog or to various social media channels, it is important to have a firm understanding on why the process works and how to use it to your advantage. A short education now often pays off in the end when an article you post brings in enough traffic to grow your business or a company youtube video goes viral for all the right reasons.
