Q: Where are you from?
A: Harleysville, PA (northwest of Philly)
Q: How did you choose this career path?
A: My first experience with code was learning to build a website in the '90s, using tables. I continued to play with code here and there over the years, but it wasn’t until 2012 that I really became serious about learning more. I switched career paths, and began hand-coding emails and managing a small team of web developers. The developers were more than happy to teach me whenever I came across a question.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I really enjoy the variety and the constant demand to learn new things. I love to solve the puzzles that code often presents. It often forces you to think about what you are doing in new ways.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a member of the ZGM team?
A: The people are fantastic. Everyone is willing to take the time to answer your questions, whether it is related to the project or if it's where to get a good sandwich and a cup of coffee. They are willing to help each other wherever and however needed.
Q: What is the strangest job you've ever had?
A: I worked as a typesetter for a company that made puzzle magazines and digital short-story books. I designed pages for Crosswords, Word Seeks, etc. and reformatted printed stories into e-books. It was very repetitive, and there was not much room for creativity. I did get free puzzles books though!
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: "I like nonsense. It wakes up the brain cells."
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Three goldfish (my kids keep changing the names) and a water snail named Slimer.
Q: Name one thing on your bucket list.
A: Travel around the world except for Antarctica. I’m not a fan of cold weather.
Q: Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
A: I have two kids, so I guess my hobby is driving them places. ? Other than spending time with family, I also enjoy cooking and reading.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: Gummy bears, I would eat them for every meal. Skittles are a close second. Least favorite food? Lima beans, yuk.
Q: If you were a Crayola Crayon, what would you be?
A: Teal
Q: If you could live in a TV show, book, or movie, which one would you pick?
A: Harry Potter
